About Me and this Blog

I am the proud father of three terrific and handsome boys and the husband of a beautiful and amazing wife. I enjoy learning and studying an array of subjects, but especially Judaic/Theological/Philosophical topics.

I hope that this blog will be a place for me to sort out new things I have learned or have been thinking about, converse with people who have a variety of worldviews and ideas, and probably to vent every once in a while.

I named this blog after Shimon ben Zoma since he is an interesting personality of the Talmud whose life philosophy I try to live by

"Ben Zoma would say:

Who is wise? He who learns from every man. As is stated (Psalms 119:99): "From all my teachers I have grown wise";

Who is strong? He who controls his impulses. As is stated (Proverbs 16:32), "Better one who is slow to anger than one with might, one who rules his spirit than the captor of a city.";

Who is rich? He who is happy with his portion. As is stated (Psalms 128:2): "If you eat of toil of your hands, fortunate are you, and good is to you"; "fortunate are you" in this world, "and good is to you" in the World to Come;

Who is honorable? He who honors his fellows; As is stated (I Samuel 2:30): "For to those who honor me, I accord honor; those who scorn me shall be demeaned;".
